Mascara defines, highlight and dramatizes the eyes. It can help you get the thick lashes you’ve always wanted. When choosing your mascara, look for one that lengthens and thickens, curls, separates and condition your lashes without smearing, clumping or smudging throughout the day.
The mascara you choose can make people wonder if your lashes are fake while they stare you down with wonder, or if you just got it like that . . . an unfair advantage with heavenly wings that seem to gently spring upwards each time you blink.
To achieve the look of having thick, long lashes, gently sweep a light coating of a non-clumping, lengthening mascara on your lashes. Then apply a second coat to add volume. This second coating will also add the length to your lashes that I’m sure will make you very happy.
Now, here are some specific tried and tested techniques that will work towards achieving the look you’ve always wanted. As you prepare to apply your mascara, focusing on one eye at a time certainly prevent caking and clumping of your lashes. Avoid mascara from drying in between coats by applying quickly and swiftly. Here’s what you need to get started:
• Joy Lorraine Super Lash Mascara. This is a smudge-free mascara with a full brush for hard to reach places. This mascara is fortified with Keratin and Panthenol to lengthen, thicken and condition even the shortest lashes.
• Joy Lorraine Waterproof Mascara. This mascara is guaranteed not to smudge or run, and will not come off until you take it off.
• Joy Lorraine Brow/Lash Groomer. Customers rave about this groomer brush all the time. The eyelash comb is essential for clump-free lashes. You haven’t bought this yet, what are you waiting for? For your lash’s sake, make a change and get yourself one.
Start with clean lashes and choose your formula – Joy Lorraine Super Lash Mascara or Joy Lorraine Waterproof Mascara. Whatever formula you choose, sweep a light coat of mascara over your lashes, concentrating on the hard-to-reach lashes that are closer to the corner of your eye. Remember to keep a very light hand here. If you over-do this step, you’ll most likely end up with clumping.
Immediately after applying, carefully comb through your eyelashes with the Brow/Lash Groomer to ensure that eyelashes are separated and clump-free. Do this quickly because you do not want to give your lashes too much time to dry before moving on to the next step.
Apply a second coat of mascara from beneath your upper lashes by gently wiggling the wand as you comb the mascara up and through your lashes. Open eyes wide and tilt your head up slightly. Place the brush horizontally against the base of your lashes and roll the brush toward the tips. Move the brush slightly to the side and repeat until you've coated all of the lashes. Touch up any lashes that aren’t fully coated and add a little extra mascara to the outer lashes for that Cleopatra look.
Thoroughly comb your lashes to get out any clumps. When the mascara starts to build up on the comb, make sure to tissue it off to prevent adding excessive mascara back onto your lashes. Now that you’ve mastered the art of applying your mascara, do it again on the other eye. Seeing the result of what you did should get you excited when you start on the other eye. You may want to comb through your lashes a final time after the mascara has dried to ensure the removal of any clumping.
If you smudge a bit of mascara while putting it on, use a Q-tip dipped in our Instant Eye Makeup Dissolving Fluid to gently clean the sensitive eye area. The result should be long, thick lashes will stay that way all day and even into the wee hours of the night.
