Depending on your skin type and what your needs are, you can opt for foundations that offer sheer to full coverage. With all the choices available today, how do you go about choosing a foundation for your skin type and based upon what your needs are?
Regardless of the skin you are in -- be it oily, dry, combination or aging, you still want a foundation that not only matches your skin tone, but can match your needs as well.
If you have oily or acne-prone skin, heavy cream foundations are not a good match for you. Opt for an oil-free matte foundation that offers light to medium coverage that will not clog your pores. Try oil-free Liquid Matte Foundation formulated to impart a flawless, soft matte-finish to the skin without oils. For combination skin types, powder or creme to powder foundation performs well. Try Creme-Powder SPF 20 foundation formulated to provide moderate coverage with the setting properties of a powder.
For dry skin, an oil base liquid or cream foundation works best as it adds needed moisture to help keep skin hydrated. Try Cremeblend SPF 18 Foundation formulated to provide medium to full coverage without feeling heavy.
Stick foundations are another option that is relatively easy to use because it can be used as a foundation and concealer all in one. It provides full coverage on the face when needed, and can be used as a spot concealer on other areas of the body to camouflage minor skin flaws. Try Stick Foundation SPF 18 Foundation formulated for normal to dry skin types.
For aging skin, a light reflective foundation with medium coverage offers the promise of a youthful glow. Skin will take on a smoother and softer appearance while minimizing facial flaws. Stay clear of using heavy cream foundation unless you want to make those lines and wrinkles more obvious. Advertising facial lines and wrinkles is something I do not think anyone wants to do.
By discovering your skin type and understanding what your needs are, you can choose the right foundation to achieve the perfect look to enhance your natural beauty.
