Mineral makeup seems to be the new buzzword among the sea of cosmetics available on the market. People with sensitive skin have been able to wear mineral makeup without experiencing any of the irritations from general makeup. Mineral makeup protects skin from damaging UV rays and if not applied correctly, can expose every wrinkle making one skin look like they’re wearing a mask. Mineral makeup is a popular style of makeup that’s exploding the beauty market with price ranging from the low end to the high end.
The most popular of all mineral makeup are the light, finely ground loose powder foundations and blushes which are buffed into the skin using a wide, fluffy brush. Mineral makeup tends to be preferred by people with extremely sensitive skin, or who suffers with rosacea or acne because it does not contain irritants like fragrances, synthetic dyes and preservatives. Mineral makeup can be applied in a variety of ways – from mixing with your moisturizer to creating a creamy foundation, or alone as a powder.
So how do you apply mineral makeup so that it benefits you?
Your first step is to clean your face thoroughly with a good cleanser appropriate for your skin type, to remove all the impurities and oils that have accumulated during the night. If you are very oily, it is a good idea to exfoliate your skin. Using a cotton ball, gently apply astringent or toner depending on your skin type over entire face. Your next step would be to . . .
Always moisturize before applying any foundation to your skin. Joy Lorraine offers lightweight moisturizers for all skin type to retexture, smooth and hydrate your skin. Choose the appropriate moisturizer for your skin type, apply and allow moisturizer to be absorbed into your skin for a few minutes before applying your mineral makeup, otherwise you may end up with results you may not be happy with. Using a Kabuki brush, swirl a small amount of the mineral powder onto the brush, tap off excess on the edge of the container. In a circular motion, begin applying mineral powder to the jaw line working towards your nose, cheekbones and forehead. The qualities of the minerals will be bought out as you buff, thereby achieving a flawless coverage.
When coming to mineral blushes, very little is needed. Using your Angle blush brush, lightly sweep a very small amount across your cheekbones. Gently blend all the way up into the hairline.
Mineral Bronzers can be applied with a variety of brushes such as a flat top, blush, kabuki or fan brush. Bronzer can be applied anywhere you want to add warm tones for a sun kissed look. Always start off with a small amount and build up on the color if more is needed.
