When taking your first adventure into bringing bright and bold makeup colors into your makeup routine, do not be afraid to experiment.

There are many colors that look fantastic on women of color that other women could not pull off near as well.  Starting with the eyes, if you have cooler skin tone, deep plums, blues, and purples will give the woman of color that pop.  Work with the deeper tones going lighter until you achieve the effect you want.  Gray and black eyeliner give great definition but don’t be afraid of blue.  If you want to make those deep sultry brown eyes pop even more, try a line of blue and just see how dramatic you can make your eyes.  If you fall on the warmer skin tone spectrum, go with the greens and browns.  A deeper green liner such as a forest green will bring out the yellow specks in your deep brown eyes giving your eyes a whole new look.  Always start with your darker eye shadow color along your eyelash line to define the eye, working out with the medium tone into the crease of your eye to give them depth, and use a lighter eye shadow as a highlight or to blend the darker shades.  Do not be afraid to layer your colors.  Think of your eyelids as your canvas. Create and see what all you can come up with.

Do you want to draw more attention to those lips?  Deep brown skins are complimented nicely when given a pop of bold color in the deeper shades of red and plums, medium brown complimented by coffee or terracotta colors, and lighter browns look fantastic with lips dressed in caramels and peaches.  Toss a lip gloss on top of those lips to give them an extra-added punch.  A rule of thumb to follow if you want to down size or play up those luscious lips is darker tones emphasize while lighter tones minimize larger lips.

When it comes to blushes for your gorgeous skin the world is your palate.  You can easily pull off brighter shades of blushes that your fairer skin counterpart cannot. From pinks to peaches, corals to bronzers and plums to nudes, you will rock the scenes.  Have fun with blushes and try something new.  Play with bronzers in place of blush.  Regardless of what your choices are, take a shade that is darker to give contour and depth and work your way lighter to highlight your cheekbones.  The great thing about makeup is you can play all day and never have to worry about it being permanent.  Wash your canvas off and start over again.  Have fun with it.  Take notes on colors that give you the desired effects and build off that.
