Unfortunately yes, it most certainly could.  Teenagers are generally the ones that work in the fast food industry.  Anywhere there are fried foods there is grease in the air that settles on clothing, hair and skin.  If you don’t believe me, smell the work shirt of your teenager when they get home; I guarantee you’ll smell some French fries. Additionally, stress and of course hormones can become a dangerous situation for teenage skin.  Teenagers must take extra care to keep their skin clean without drying it out.

Acne is a skin complaint characterized by blackheads and pustules, usually found on the face and back. The problem is most commonly associated with adolescence and is linked with hormonally-induced hyperactivity of the oil-producing sebaceous glands which are stimulated to produce oil. The oil then combines with cells found on the walls of these glands and clogs your pores which results in acne.

The use of a good cleanser at home will help to alleviate her acne skin condition. Use it in the morning and before bed with a toner and a moisturizer and you will most likely have the problem solved.  Sometimes this is not the end of the problem.  She may have to wash her face halfway through the work day, such as on a break, to get it back under control. The purchase of some clean travel-size bottles filled with her favorite facial cleanser, toner, and moisturizer will do the trick since they will fit great in her purse or duffle.

Another thing she will have to watch for is how she eats when she is at work.  There is a great debate over whether eating greasy foods exacerbates acne, but if she stays away from it for a week and starts to clear up; it’s a good idea to continue with it. She also needs to stay well hydrated. A lot of water is lost through the skin, and when working it increases the loss. Water is the best thing to drink when at work.  Water helps the skin to keep itself clear of oils and impurities.  It also carries necessary nutrients and minerals to the skin to keep it healthy. Keeping your teen eating fresh fruits and vegetables will also help control acne by providing the body with anti-oxidants to keep her skin healthy.

Teen skin changes over time, so what is being used now and working great may not continue to do so.  Keep an eye on acne breakouts and change cleansers, toners and moisturizer only when necessary.  Their skin is very sensitive to change and you wouldn’t want to damage it by using a product that is too harsh.  Also watch for dyes and fragrances in their cleansers, toners and moisturizers.
